Step to Manhood #91

[ 2 ] February 23, 2011 | allswagga

Nothing will make me into a man.  That’s my job, I DO all of the making.

One step closer to manhood.  To help someone explore their step feel free to share your thoughts, quotes, or anecdote in the comment section below.

  1. I think this quote points out one of the shortcomings in our society – namely, that we don’t have some sort of ceremony that marks the transition from boyhood into manhood.

For some, it’s getting your driver’s license. Or moving out of your parents’ house. Or having your first credit card. But none of these things really convey what it means to be a man.

I wish we had some sort of ceremony where we could declare that we have CHOSEN to cross the threshold into manhood. Not something that everyone does at the same age, but something that each individual chooses when they feel they are ready.

    That’s my $0.02

(Great site – keep up the good work!)

I don’t disagree with either this quote or Patrick Mathieu’s comment. I just want to add that both as myself and as a man of faith I believe strongly that as men we are to move forward with volition and purpose but never forget that we are part of a community of both family and friends. My life is a constant balance of personal responsibility and a complete childish surrender into the arms of a God who loves me and calls me to higher things.
So glad to have found you guys at All Swagga!
