How could you leave out “Cool Hand Luke”?
Just watched Shawshank Redemption last weekend, glad to see it made the list!
@Emdubya Great one liners in that movie. “What we got here is a failure to communicate.”
Good list. I’ll be sure to go out and get the ones I don’t have. You’re missing a big one though — “The Matrix.” Techno geeks are men, too!
@ Demetrius I agree The Matrix did bring out the tech in all of us.
Missed several notable “Man films”. By that I mean, making the tough choices against all odds, not necessarily “swagga”. Certainly the courage of the lead character’s conviction comes into play.
A few that come to mind: Walking Tall, Pulp Fiction (especially the choice to kill or not to kill by Jules at the end of the film), On The Waterfront, The Wild One (both featuring Brando!), Malcolm X, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, and my personal favorite Taxi Driver
